Olympic Fever

I decided I needed to post today to keep from falling asleep while the kids nap.  You see, I am suffering from a made-up condition I will call Olympic Fever.

I cannot, not watch.  I have been staying up WAY past my bed time and each morning this week I wake up in a hazy fog (the main symptom of the fever).

Even the sports like beach volleyball and rowing I have my eyes glued to the TV.  I typically wouldn't consider myself a fan of either sport, but I am now!

Another symptom of the fever is the random questions I have popping in my head.

I find myself having pondering things like:

"Why do the female volleyball players wear such tiny bikini bottoms?  Wouldn't it be more comfortable to wear the granny-panty kind?"

or

"Why does fencing look exactly like The Dude when he flails his light saber around the playroom?  Is there even any skill involved?"

or

"There is no way the little baby-faced Chinese gymnast is older than 10, but what does it matter...she can flip like a mo-fo"

or

"Now that Ryan Lochte is over the stomach flu, does he have a hope in stopping the Michael Phelps train?"

or

"Is Mary Carrillo really a woman (because lets be honest, all signs point to no)?"

or

"Was it just me or could anyone understand a word Bela Karoly was saying last night?  It sounded like he was gargling marbles"

or

"I wonder how tall Bob Costas is...he looks like a hobbit"

I have really, really enjoyed watching the Olympics.  Despite some minor controversy (who gives a flying crap if the fireworks were fake, it was still spectacular) I think China is doing a bang up job.

HP, Miss Thang and The Dude have all enjoyed turning Homebase into a mini-gym.  They are practicing their head stands and flinging their arms around while screaming "TA-DA!" at the top of their lungs.  Even Sissy, who is 18 months old, tried her darnedest to do a somersault (which she did with a little assistance).

You see, they have Olympic fever as well.

How we keep cool at Homebase...

The mercury is rising and with it, the kids and I are coming up with additional ways to keep cool.  Today we filled the blowup pool and the kids created their own fun.  When Starchy came home I did a double take (no, not because his jeans were ironed and triple-starched, I'm used to that) because the day literally flied by!  You know what they say...time flies when you're havin' fun!

Miss. Thang and The Dude thought it was SO much fun to make waves (by pushing on the side of the pool) and run through it.  Here is Miss. Thang taking her turn.

Sissy, "helping" to make waves.

The Dude hamming it up for the camera!  Such a cheeseball.

Don't you just love The Drooler's hat?  What a fashion plate.  And those cheeks, I could just eat them up!

Sissy, squatting behind the pool.  Anyone guess what she was doing?  :)

Miss. Thang, drama queen!

Look at those baby blues.  This girl is so dang cute.  And she cannot help herself, if she does see the camera, she strikes a pose!

Sissy was cracking herself up!  She was hooting and clapping...its so much fun to catch the kids in candid moments!

Miss. Thang was so cold after swimming all morning.  I finally MADE her sit with a towel for a minute and was greeted with this expression...never get between her and the pool!

The Dude was getting tired and started to stare off into the clouds as I snapped this picture.

Gardening, Washing and Sun...oh my.

Okay.  So you ALL know I am new at this blogging thing.  So I hope you can forgive the randomness of the pictures in this post.  I have not figured out how to order the pictures in the sequence that I took them.  Rather, you are looking at the end of our day first, and seeing the beginning last.  If anyone knows how to correct this or how to shuffle the photos please let me know.  Otherwise, enjoy our most recent Sunday...

The Dude showing suds on his hands from scrubbing my car (notice Starchy in the background talking to one of his Cronies on the phone!)!
The Dude and his friend making my car SPARKLE!
HP (after just waking up from nap) striking a pose!
The Dude (Isn't he cute?)
Earn your keep girl!
The Front of the House (after)
Another Angle (after)
The Dude and his hose...
Check out how hard they are working!  Bubbles were flying everywhere!
HEY!  Don't spray your Mamma!  STOP IT!!!
The Front of the House (before) (notice the nappy clay and rocks)

Dirt (another angle...how boring)
Watering the flowers (but busted by Mama!)

For My Homies in the UK!

The Drooler's mum (see how I did that, I wrote it British like) is from England.  She is totally cool and does a wonderful job raising her little man (along with dad!).  She told me that her mum (see...British again) who lives in the UK was checking out the blog from time to time.

So, for Drooler's grandma, and the rest of his family abroad, here are some pictures from his time spent here at Homebase...

In the beginning...

I have decided to create this blog to keep my friends and family abroad (does Canada count as abroad?) and the Parents of The Crew up on the constant chaos at Homebase (apparently in the blogger world, you have to have code names for common things, it is all the rage).

You would think that running a business out of my home that involves a lot of Boogers, Kisses and Spilled Milk, I wouldn't have time to post.  You, my friend, have forgotten that kids nap.  This (I hope) will leave me plenty of time to post while avoiding any housework that Starchy (this is going to be husbands code word because the man could win an international award for most starch used whilst ironing daily) thinks I should be doing.

I look forward to your comments and readership.

Peace out,
Rikki
